Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago

His Excellency Mohammed Umaru Bago is the Executive Governor of Niger State and is popularly known as the “Farmer Governor” for his passion and vision for agriculture and economic growth. He assumed office on 29 May 2023.

Before becoming governor, he served as a member of the House of Representatives for Chanchaga Federal Constituency, where he was known for his leadership and commitment to improving the socio-economic conditions of his constituents.

Education is a cornerstone of Governor Bago's administration. Through TENS II, he is working to improve educational statistics, school infrastructure, teacher training and access to resources.

Niger State is in the North-Central Geopolitical Zone of Nigeria. It is the country's largest state by land area, covering approximately 76,363 square kilometres.

It is known as the “Power State” for housing several major dams, including Kainji Dam, which plays a crucial role in Nigeria's power generation.

The State has three senatorial districts, 25 Local Government Areas and 274 wards. Zones A, B and C comprise eight, nine and eight LGAs respectively.
